Have your say on City Deal plans to tackle peak-time congestion in Cambridge    30 August, 2016

The Greater Cambridge City Deal team wants your views on their eight-point plan to tackle peak-time congestion in Cambridge.

The package of measures includes:

  • Better public transport and investment in Park & Rides, including traffic management measures to remove general traffic from key bus routes in the city
  • Better cycling and walking infrastructure with further investment in a cycle network linking towns and villages
  • Peak-time congestion control points, with 'virtual closures' for general traffic on some city roads during rush hours
  • A Workplace Parking Levy - an annual fee for each commuter parking space provided by large employers
  • On-street parking controls with expansion of Residents' Parking Zones in areas near large workplaces, to discourage commuter parking
  • Smart technology including real-time travel alerts and intelligent traffic signals
  • A travel planning service to help businesses and people adapt to the changes
  • Using opportunities to improve public space and air quality.

The package was approved in principle by the City Deal's Executive Board in July and feedback now will be used to help shape and improve the approach, with final recommendations due to be considered in January 2017.

The team is keen to hear any issues or concerns you may have about any particular elements so please click here to read more about the proposals and to take part in the consultation. The closing date is Monday 10th October.
