Latest information from eCops, issued 16th May    16 May, 2015

The police have issued the following reports of two crimes committed locally:

  • On Friday 15th May between 5.00pm and 5.30pm a number of young lads have set fire to some bales of straw in a field in Stow-Cum-Quy. This would appear to be the result of some larking around and possibly goading/daring each other. I understand the offenders have been identified. Parents, I urge you to bring this to the attention of your own children and to drive home the message of how dangerous this sort of activity can be. On this occasion no one was hurt but the potential for this to end tragically would have been very real.
  • Also on Friday 15th May at around 3.30pm a handbag was stolen from a car parked in Babraham Road, Fulbourn. The car owner was out riding and had seen a dark coloured car pull up beside hers from a distance. When she returned to her vehicle she noticed that the passenger side window had been smashed and the bag, containing cash, cards and documents, was missing. Please, please be aware of this type of crime when parking up your car, especially during the summer months. Many times when these thefts are reported to us the victim states that the items were hidden. It’s always best not to leave anything of value in your vehicle at all, particularly when parking up in remote locations.

Remember, if you see anything suspicious or have been a victim of crime please report this to the Police on either 101 (non-emergency) or 999 in an emergency, if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
