Public consultation on relocation of water treatment works    10 July, 2020

Anglian Water has launched the first of three phases of a consultation process on the relocation of its water treatment works from the Cowley Road site. Moving it will enable the site south of the A14 down to Cambridge North Station to be developed.

After a site selection study which considered the height of the land, the length of tunnelling required and the need to return treated water to the River Cam, they have identified three possible areas where the new site could be located. One of them is between Fen Ditton and Horningsea:

The new site will be within a smaller area than the yellow areas shown on the map – around half the size of the site on Cowley Road.

There is more detail in the leaflet that has been delivered through the post and on the project website, where you can register an interest. There is also a Freephone information line which you can call to ask questions, request information in alternative formats and provide feedback: 0808 196 1661

The Parish Council will be responding to the consultation after its August meeting, but please take the time to read the leaflet, visit the project website and provide feedback yourself. The closing date is 19 August.
